First you start with a yard survey... "Let's
see, 100 feet high and 100 feet wide... Let's plant it ten feet from our neighbor".
Oops, the place we chose didn't
already have a hole for the roots. Find some hunk with a strong back, dress him up a bit,
and tell him to dig.
Before you put the tree in the ground you have to
show it to the dog (he's going to be using it too).
Gently put the tree into to the
prepared hole. This is going to be home for the tree for maybe a century; an extra ten
minutes of bed preparation now is a good investment.
Voila! Your treelet is started!
It is so thin that a white stake to warn off the kids is required.
Tune in later as we watch the little
guy grow to adolescence.
