<< Hard to recommend a place more than the little Cedar Creek
Inn on Washington Parkway as you leave Mt. Vernon. Adult Spanish food, a great view of the
Potomac, and log cabin charm. Nice wines too. |

<< Sitting on the big green lawn at Mt. Vernon. Matt's and
Williams' view is better... out over the Potomac. |

<< Looking out across the George Washington hunting preserve
and further out across the Potomac. Must be nice in Spring weather. |

<< Upon entry to Mt Vernon, a small facimile of farm life ca.
1775 is presented. Here we are in the corral, near a vintage tent. |
Details of the Mt Vernon house are
interesting. The cupola is up there to provide lift for summer ventilation. The walls are
made of wood cut to look like stone; when the paint was wet, sand was thrown on it to make
the surface rocklike.>> |

<< The Yoke's on Matthew! |
They have a little "the way it
was" farm in the hollow by the dock. Samples of crops, pictures of George's old
"threshing barn" as well as a modern replica.
Don't miss it if you have kids. |
